I have been struggling as to what I should write today and possibly this is a bail out, but I don't see Obama anywhere in sight so i dunno.... One thing I strongly believe is that God is a far more logical God than we give him credit for. I was watching some time ago a documentary on the History Channel or something that was disproving the miracles of God. This episode was highlighting the plagues in Egypt. In some big worded crazy scientific way they were able to prove that there were incredible massive winds in the area around that time. They also proved that locusts have to fly where ever the wind blows them. Because of these 2 facts they said it was a freak of nature that the locusts invaded Egypt and basically Moses got lucky. Whatever..... According to these scientists it was no miracle because it was "explained". I beg to differ on the base of my belief on how logical God is. He is the creator of everything. The guy made everything on this earth for a purpose. They said it was "disproving" God while I saw it as the complete opposite and them explaining God. Many times we get lost in the idea of how mysterious, miraculous, awesome (yada yada yada...) God is. We forget to use the tools God has given and blessed us here on Earth. For some reason we expect him to do all the work in a miraculous way. If we wanna be healthy we should take our medicine, exercise, and eat well. If we want a new car how about we get a job that pays enough. I am not saying to be independent from God. I am not saying that at all. We absolutely need to be dependant on our Lord and savior. I am saying we need to be logical and practical in our life, morally or otherwise. If we do this it decreases us from not "wanting" a miracle but "needing" a miracle. I prefer to not "need" a miracle" because of my negligence and ignorance. I got to thinking about this because I was listening to a good song that takes me back to 1999 aka 8th grade for the chadillac. It's neither Christian nor religious in any way. It is a song of advice full of logic that we can all use to better our lives. I placed the lyrics below. The last thing I would like to say is that I had only planned on copying and pasting these lyrics below with not really any other commentary (hence the previous Obama bailout comment) until I got the fingers rolling on the keyboard. Enjoy. holla back bloggin peeps. woop woop!

Ladies and Gentlemen of the class of ’99
If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be
it. The long term benefits of sunscreen have been proved by
scientists whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable
than my own meandering experience…I will dispense this advice now. Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth; oh nevermind; you will not
understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded.
But trust me, in 20 years you’ll look back at photos of yourself and
recall in a way you can’t grasp now how much possibility lay before
you and how fabulous you really looked….You’re not as fat as you
imagine. Don’t worry about the future; or worry, but know that worrying is as
effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing
bubblegum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that
never crossed your worried mind; the kind that blindside you at 4pm
on some idle Tuesday. Do one thing everyday that scares you Sing Don’t be reckless with other people’s hearts, don’t put up with
people who are reckless with yours. Floss Don’t waste your time on jealousy; sometimes you’re ahead, sometimes
you’re behind…the race is long, and in the end, it’s only with
yourself. Remember the compliments you receive, forget the insults; if you
succeed in doing this, tell me how. Keep your old love letters, throw away your old bank statements. Stretch Don’t feel guilty if you don’t know what you want to do with your life…the most interesting people I know didn’t know at 22 what they
wanted to do with their lives, some of the most interesting 40 year
olds I know still don’t. Get plenty of calcium. Be kind to your knees, you’ll miss them when they’re gone. Maybe you’ll marry, maybe you won’t, maybe you’ll have children, maybe
you won’t, maybe you’ll divorce at 40, maybe you’ll dance the funky
chicken on your 75th wedding anniversary…what ever you do, don’t
congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either – your
choices are half chance, so are everybody else’s. Enjoy your body,
use it every way you can…don’t be afraid of it, or what other people
think of it, it’s the greatest instrument you’ll ever
own.. Dance…even if you have nowhere to do it but in your own living room. Read the directions, even if you don’t follow them. Do NOT read beauty magazines, they will only make you feel ugly. Get to know your parents, you never know when they’ll be gone for
good. Be nice to your siblings; they are the best link to your past and the
people most likely to stick with you in the future. Understand that friends come and go,but for the precious few you
should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and
lifestyle because the older you get, the more you need the people you
knew when you were young. Live in New York City once, but leave before it makes you hard; live
in Northern California once, but leave before it makes you soft. Travel. Accept certain inalienable truths, prices will rise, politicians will
philander, you too will get old, and when you do you’ll fantasize
that when you were young prices were reasonable, politicians were
noble and children respected their elders. Respect your elders. Don’t expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you have a trust fund,
maybe you have a wealthy spouse; but you never know when either one
might run out. Don’t mess too much with your hair, or by the time you're 40, it will
look 85. Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who
supply it. Advice is a form of nostalgia, dispensing it is a way of
fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the
ugly parts and recycling it for more than
it’s worth. But trust me on the sunscreen…

What in the World?

clock October 28, 2009 00:23 by author Toni Hembree

Being a part of a tv ministry is certainly a calling I never would have anticipated. I used to be the shyest, least confrontational, and most socially backward person you would ever meet. However when God calls you to His perfect will and throws you into your purpose, great things can happen. But there is a bigger picture than this. There is a WORLD that is dying without Christ. They need to hear the good news of Jesus' salvation.

In addition to my blogs about certain social issues in America I am going to start a post of events happening in and throughout the world that every Christian needs to be aware of and needs to do something about. Jesus calls each of us who read and study His Word to put it into action and that action is 1. to love our neighbor as ourself, 2. spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all nations and 3. taking care of the poor, the widows, the orphaned, and the incarcerated. So my dear blogging companions here is the situation:

1. A leading Russian analyst has reported that Tehran has extened North Korean technology capabilities to produce missles with a range of nearly 2,000 miles, putting not only Israel but Turkey and parts of Europe within striking distance. Just today Ahmedinijad said that Iran will continue to proceed with their nuclear program and Iran has a right to have it.

2. Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai of Zimbabwe withdrew indefinately from the power sharing agreement that brought his opposition party to power just 8 months ago. Why this is an issue: Zimbabwe used to be the bread basket of Africa until Mugabe and his corruption took over. Now it is the most destitute of the African countries. Tsvangirai was elected rightly to the position of PM by the people of that country but Mugabe and his corrupted politics forced him to reign jointly with him.

3. Pakistan announced the closure of all schools beginning on Oct 21 after brutal weeks of bombings that ended in a double suicide bombing at Islamabad University. 4 were killed. this was the 7th major attack by militants in just weeks that have left dozens dead.

Now you know so what are you going to do about it?

Silent cries.....

clock October 22, 2009 23:00 by author Michele Newell

A few days ago, I came across a very disturbing video on the internet. The video was about a 2 year old girl named Kelsey, who sadly became a victim of child abuse. Kelsey’s parents divorced before she was born, her father was a soldier stationed in Iraq. Kelsey’s mom met a man, that most people thought was the perfect man, his name was Michael Porter, and before no time, Kelsey had a new stepfather. Michael began abusing Kelsey before he married her mother, not too long after they married Michael abused Kelsey so badly that he killed her. Kelsey died just two weeks before her father was scheduled to arrive back from Iraq.

This video was not only thought-provoking, but it disturbed my spirit for the remainder of the day. I began researching cases of child abuse and eventually stopped because I was brought to tears and great sorrow for these innocent children. Most of the cases I researched were murder cases, I noticed that some of the child abusers did not receive a reasonable sentence in prison, some would have 18 years, others 27 years. What about life? Well, I only noticed a few people who were sentenced to life. Do you think somebody who abuses a child to DEATH, should be in jail for life? I do.

It was clear through my research that a number of children die every year from child abuse, and as these statistics were revealed to me my spirit filled with anger. Revenge is not the route to go down when you know somebody should be punished for their wrong, I realized that all I can and will do is use my prayers to God and my voice to spread the word about the prevalence of child abuse in America and the world.

I charge you to send this video to as many individuals as you can, and ask them to pray for victims of child abuse, and pray that it stops. If you know somebody who is being child abused, or even domestically abused, TELL SOMEBODY. Many of the cases I researched were disturbing because people knew, but kept their mouths shut. October is non-violence month, lets not just look at October to do something, but everyday of the year. PRAY for violence to STOP. Our prayers are the biggest weapon of them all.

ANTI-CHRIST!

clock October 20, 2009 20:39 by author Kyle Hembree

I just wanted to share an email I got from a friend, he is Ted Baehr of Movie Guide

We’re grieved to tell you about one of the most vile movies of all time which is set to hit theaters next week. If we even put the poster in this e-mail, you would be disgusted.  But, with your help we can make a significant difference in stopping its impact.

Please sign the petition by clicking here to get this movie rated NC-17, which will limit it’s distribution.

Here’s why a NC-17 rating is so critical:

·     An R rated movie easily makes its way to the cinema in your local neighborhood.  Thankfully, many local cinemas still won’t show the movie if it’s NC-17.

·     An R rated movie stands a chance to make more money than NC-17 and this will only encourage some producers in Hollywood to make more vile movies like this.

·     And most importantly, children under 17 cannot get into movies with an NC-17 rating, unlike R rated movies, which admit them.

Currently the movie has elected to be “Not Rated” which will allow ANYONE OF ANY AGE TO VIEW THIS HORRIFIC, WICKED MOVIE.

The movie not only includes deliberately explicit and pornographic sex scenes, it also contains graphic close-ups of sexual mutilation and murderous, accidental violence, including the death of a baby.

A woman is portrayed as the antichrist in this film. The main female character in the movie takes a two by four to her husband’s private parts. And then dills his leg to a milestone while doing other acts of mutilation.  This is not the kind of thing we want our children to observe.

The movie is designed not only to shock and titillate the audience.  It is also designed to contain symbols, metaphors and other content referring to Christian, biblical themes.

We must act now, today since the movie is coming out next week.  Please stand with us and others who care about how movies affect our kids. Click here and sign the petition.

Please forward this petition to everyone in your address book who cares about protecting the eyes and minds of children (as well as adults!).

THE RUSH!!!

clock October 20, 2009 19:36 by author ChadHembree

No this isn't a catchy title on my opinion on Rush Limbaugh's failed attempt to buy the St. Louis Rams. It's about that "rush" that many of us in some ways live for. People love Sky Diving for that "Rush". Some look back to younger days and reminisce on the "rush" they got from playing high school sports. Others get rushes through their work place etc... So many people love to get that "rush". I know I do. One major way to get that "rush" is to face a fear. That’s what makes bungee jumping or sky diving such a storied thrill. It’s odd because although we LOVE the thrill we still avoid the "fear" in terror. Such a conundrum right? The Lord didn’t give us the spirit of fear. Why live with fear and rob yourself of joys in life simply from a fear? How much of a thrill is it to face a fear? It's an incredible thrill. A thrill that we all long for. So why not trust in the Lord and conquer these fears while enjoying these rushes? Makes sense to me. Basically I'm telling you to trust in the Lord through your fears because he rewards that with the rush we all are looking for.

now drop me some thoughts and comments!

Where Does My Help Come From

clock October 17, 2009 00:13 by author Toni Hembree

Last month at the MTV music video awards Jack Black - comedian, actor, musician,- asked the audience to join hands and pray to "dear dark lord Satan" (ewwTongue out I feel icky even typing his comment). During the "prayer" Black asked that all musicians and nominees would have "continued success in the music industry." The even sadder part about this is that no one in the audience openly objected to the invitationCry. MTV has always banked on the shock factor Surprisedbut should we really be shocked? If you look at the great bands in history-Elvis Presley, Rolling Stones, Who, Beatles, Doors, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin etc many of these artists have served the master of this world and in return have sacrificed a life that could have done great things for the Lord had he or she put their trust in Him. John Lennon-murdered, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, and Jimi Hendrix all overdosed as well as many others.  Now I can't say that I don't enjoy these incredibly talented artists from time to time, but as we can see from their tragic ends they did not know to seek help from above. Innocent

Bottom line is: We have an enemy and his name is Satan. He will NEVER help us. Satan doesn't care about you, your loved ones, or your talent. He hates you and your Creator and wants to see you destroyedYell. He'll let you have your fame, fortune and funMoney mouth for a little while but when he's done with you he will not hesitate to collect his duesFrown. Remember that this life is only but a moment. Are you going to serve the One who can help you in your greatest time of need no matter what you've done or where you've been along the way, or are you going to bow at the feet of the one who's fate has already been determined by the Blood of Jesus Christ? Sealed

I wonder if Jim Morrison would still be alive today if he stuck with seminary school? Or if Elvis would have surrended his career to the Lord and stuck with recording southern Gospel. What talented lives wasted because of the lies of Satan.

What a difference a few years or drugs, alcohol, fame and fortune make.

I just burned my tongue

have a great day!

Welcome to the Cornerstone Blog!

Hi everyone,

This is the beginning of what we hope will be an informative and fun space for everyone in the Cornerstone Family.  Our plan is to use this blog space to let you know our thoughts and feelings on anything that comes our way.  Certainly we...by the way...the "we" of this blog consists of Ron Hembree, President of Cornerstone and host of Focus 4 and Quick Study, Tim Burgan, Director of our Rescuers network and host of the Rescuers program, Kyle Hembree, Coordinating Producer of Focus 4, Toni Hembree, Marketing and Publicity Coordinator and regular host of Focus 4, Focus 4 Producers Michele Newell and Chad Hembree, and me, Tom Hollis, Director of Broadcast Services.

As I was saying...we will certainly use this space to announce and discuss upcoming programs and events.  Blogs however, have a way of spilling over into the day-to-day thoughts of the author.  In fact, I’m sure that as we progress, our commentary will be more about society at large and what's going on in our personal lives, than merely announcing programs.  You may even hear a rant or two (or many). We want to hear from you, as well.  There will be a place for you to comment after each entry.  Please be kind.

We are just learning this blog business, so were not quite sure what we’re doing yet.  But at the bottom of it all is our deep love for Jesus and to see that he is glorified.  That is why Cornerstone exists and this blog is just an extension of that.  We hope that it is a fun time for everyone.

Tom
